Mt Monadnock

Jaffrey sports many different views of Mt Monadnock. I was fortunate to be able to sit and paint in a friend’s back yard this summer. Although the mountain is just over 3000 ft, it stands alone and is viewable from the surrounding villages. I believe what makes it attractive to paint is the bare rock peak which etches the sky. The outline is subtle and un-grand and actually difficult to paint, to capture the delicate shapes of the whole top line.
